Reports indicate that NazirNorteiAlema, the 25 year old Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology graduate, who left home in August, to join the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, has sent a message to his friends and family on facebook.
According to sources, the message on Nazir’s wall read, “As-salaamu ‘Alaikum from the Islamic State, with joy.”
Family members claim it was the same account he used back in Ghana. This message has received a reply from family and friends calling on Nazir to return home.
We believe the recruiters are using this as a ploy to get more recruits from Ghana. They know very well that there are equally extremist-minded muslims in Ghana and that if they could paint a picture that Nazir is fine and enjoying himself, it could be enticing to others.
ISIS activities, we believe are well co-ordinated and they would as part of their modalities, ask recruits to provide details of their social media accounts.
The National Security must be on the alert for signals that would indicate that there’re plans to get more recruits from Ghana.
